A child is obese if he or she has stored too much fat. Weight of an obese child is more than that of a average child with respect to his age and height. Though the physician should be consulted with to determine the the obesity of the child yet the general measurement is a child is affected by obesity if his BMI ( Body Mass Index) for age is higher than 95% and a child is overweight if his BMI for his age is in between 85% and 95%.
Causes Of Obesity In Children
There are different causes of obesity in children. The most prominent among them are : One, eating high fat and high sugary foods is common cause of obesity in children. Children affected by it eat less healthy foods. Two, Physical inactivity is an other cause of child obesity. Modern internet world has confined the children into their rooms. Tv, mobiles and electronic games are the favourite but less healthy things for the children. Outdoor games and healthy walks in parks should have replaced them.
Factors that may cause children to become overweight and obese include: Three, heredity is one of the very obvious cause of obesity in children. Since parents are already suffering from obesity their children are very vulnerable to this medical abnormality. Such parents also take their children's obesity for granted and do not pay much heed to it. .Four, genetics is an other major cause of Child obesity. No matter how much healthy foods are taken and physical activities are pursued the genetic disorder as a cause throw the child beneath the burden of obesity. .
Consequences or Effects Of Obesity In Children
There are many negative effects of obesity in children. some are social and the other are medical ones. These are : An obese child undergoes or looks undergoing early maturation and appears older than his same age peers. This makes the situation for him or her very awkward . Not only this but an obese child looking older than his chronological age fellows are expected to perform better than others but s they actually are o the same age they cannot show age wise enhanced performance and ultimately end in losing self esteem. Apart from this an obese child in his class or any where is very likely to be made fun of by his friends and any age fellow. It is commonly observed that the obese children are talked about even though seriously in gatherings in their presence and at many more places starred at as if they are a different creature from humans. Their this special or discriminated treatment by society makes them hesitant to be in gatherings and public places.Actually in this they are losing confidence. Sometimes a genetically obese child becomes preoccupied with his weight to the extent that he starts eating less than required. Insufficient intake of necessary food ingredients culminates in his or her weakness. Obesity in childhood causes harmful effects on the body in different of ways. Children suffering from obesity are medically found having high blood pressure, high cholesterol paving way for risk factors for cardiovascular disease (CVD), multiplied risk of impaired glucose tolerance, insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, breathing problems like asthma and sleep issues. Not only this but joint problems, musculoskeletal discomfort, fatty liver disease, gallstones and heartburn. Aparat from all this , here are some long term effects. Children affected by obesity are more likely to become adults with obesity and adult obesity is associated with increased risk of a number of serious health conditions including heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and cancer and therefore if children have got obesity their obesity and disease risk factors in adulthood are not only more probable but also more dangerous.
